Marcos Senesi could be one of the most sought-after players of the summer transfer window as his Bournemouth contract winds down.
The elegant Argentine has been a mainstay for Andoni Iraola in recent seasons and has quietly been one of their most reliable performers.
In February, we reported that Tottenham’s interest in Senesi is ‘more advanced’ than the rest of his suitors, with the likes of Barcelona and Juventus also chasing him.
And now, reports from England suggest he has his heart set on a move to Spain.
Senesi likely to snub Tottenham for Spain
The Lilywhites could be set for a massive defensive reshuffle under Roberto De Zerbi in the summer.
Cristian Romero has been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid, while Radu Dragusin is wanted by Fabio Paratici at Fiorentina.
Amid their recent form, Micky van de Ven has thus far been unwilling to extend his contract, although he is tied down to the club until 2029.
A move for Senesi makes sense for Tottenham, more so on a free transfer.
However, Caught Offside report that he prefers a move to Spain, with Barcelona and Atletico Madrid chasing him.

The Argentine has yet to decide on his future and also has other suitors in the Premier League, with Chelsea and Liverpool in the running.
The report also states that each of the aforementioned Premier League clubs have already made contact with Senesi’s representatives, with the Argentine expected to command a large salary.
A losing battle for Tottenham
Senesi would fit in like a glove at Tottenham under De Zerbi as the Italian likes defenders who are capable of playing out from the back.
His Premier League experience could stand him in good stead, but this transfer saga looks like an uphill battle for Spurs.
Senesi clearly prefers a move to Spain, so the Lilywhites are already on the back foot.

Additionally, if he does decide to remain in the Premier League, Chelsea and Liverpool could be better options for him as they have the possibility of offering him European football.
De Zerbi’s arrival certainly makes Tottenham more attractive, but they need to confirm their Premier League status first to stand a chance of signing players of Senesi’s quality.
