Tottenham transfer news as shock Premier League record deal mooted

Tottenham Hotspur are in a spot of bother as they remain rooted to the bottom of the Premier League standings.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side are winless in the competition this season and haven’t kicked on despite splashing the cash on ten new signings.

To make matters worse, Micky van de Ven and Jan Paul Van Hecke picked up injuries during the international break and face a race against time to be fit for the weekend.

And now, to run salt into the wounds of the Tottenham faithful, Micky van de Ven has been linked with a big-money Premier League move.

Tottenham captain Micky van de Ven linked with two clubs

Caught Offside report that both Manchester United and Liverpool are keeping a close eye on Van de Ven’s situation.

An excerpt from the article reads: “Micky van de Ven came very close to leaving Tottenham in the summer, but instead signed a new contract.

“Right now it’s not worked out for either party, with Spurs stuck in much the same spiral as Man U.

Liverpool are also being heavily linked with van de Ven as they try to figure out who will be Virgil van Dijk’s long-term replacement at the back.

“Tottenham are in the strongest position here, now they have the Dutch international on a long contract. Any sale would likely break the £80m record for a defender set by Harry Maguire.”

Van de Ven is Tottenham’s captain and a key part of De Zerbi’s project. Talks of his departure – especially a few months after he signed a new deal – should just not be entertained. Case closed.
