It’s been a tough season at club level for both Micky van de Ven and Tottenham so far.
During the summer, the Dutch international signed a new deal at the club and took over the captain’s armband from Cristian Romero, who joined Atletico Madrid.
The new season was expected to start on a positive note for the Lilywhites after they splashed the cash on ten new signings.
However, they are winless in the Premier League and find themselves rooted to the bottom of the table.
To make matters worse, Van de Ven suffered an injury while representing the Netherlands, with Jan Paul van Hecke also suffering a similar fate.
And now, Netherlands manager Xavi has provided an update on the Tottenham man’s situation.
No long-term injury for Tottenham captain Micky van de Ven
Speaking after the Netherlands’ final game of the international break vs Serbia, Xavi confirmed that the defender shouldn’t be out for a long period.
“He’s ok; he felt dizzy because he suffered with his finger. It’s not a big injury.”
Late in the game, Luka Jovic fell awkwardly on Van de Ven’s arm, which led to a wrist injury at the time.
The Netherlands had already used all of their substitutions, so they took him off the pitch and saw off the game with ten men.
Xavi’s comments will come as music to the ears of the Tottenham faithful, especially with Van Hecke also suffering an injury during the international break.
