Tottenham Hotspur’s primary focus will be to get a permanent manager in place for the start of the 2026-27 Premier League season.
In the meantime, Igor Tudor has been tasked with steadying the ship as they find themselves 16th in the Premier League.
The Croatian’s first assignment is the small matter of the North London derby against Arsenal on Sunday.
In the meantime, though, squad planning for the forthcoming season is happening behind the scenes, with Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi emerging as a tantalising option on a free transfer.
And now, reports from Spain have provided an update on the situation, with the elegant defender not short of suitors across Europe.
Tottenham ‘most interested’ in signing Senesi
Bournemouth’s transfer business over the years has been admirable to say the least, which is a far cry from what’s been the case at Tottenham.
The likes of Dean Huijsen, Iliya Zabarnyi, Milos Kerkez and Antoine Semenyo are players who were signed for meagre fees and moved on for big money.
They appear to have done it again with Senesi, but with the Argentine’s contract expiring at the end of the season, they are resigned to losing him for free as he has made it clear that he won’t be signing an extension.
According to a report from Marca, Tottenham are the club ‘most interested’ in signing Senesi, although the likes of Barcelona and Juventus are also in the running.
Football journalist Matteo Moretto has had his say on the matter as he revealed the state of play involving the 28-year-old.
He said, via the same Marca report mentioned earlier: “Senesi is performing very well at Bournemouth and there are Premier League teams preparing offers.
“The team most interested is Tottenham, but there’s Borussia Dortmund and Juventus who are planning to make an offer. Barcelona are also very attentive to the Senesi situation.”
Senesi is a must for Tottenham
Primarily a left-sided central defender, Senesi has been a key figure at the heart of the Bournemouth backline this season.
His ball-playing ability is among the best in the Premier League, which has been on display several times over the course of his time in England.
With Cristian Romero’s Tottenham future looking uncertain, they could do well with another experienced defender who can come in and deliver immediately.
Senesi has featured over 30 times in two of his three full seasons in the Premier League so far and looks set to eclipse that tally once again, which is proof that he is a reliable presence who has more than just adapted to the Premier League.
It can’t get much better than this for Tottenham as he will be available on a free transfer. However, with Senesi also wanted by Barcelona and Juventus, they will need to sort out their managerial situation swiftly and make him a contract offer he can’t refuse.
