Tottenham wonderkid Luka Vuskovic has become one of the most sought-after players after just one season in Europe’s Top 5 leagues.
The Croatian defender has been brilliant for Hamburg on loan from Tottenham this campaign. He’s helped them stay clear of the relegation zone in their first season after promotion to the Bundesliga.
This has seen Vuskovic getting linked to some of the top clubs in Europe. Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Chelsea are among the clubs monitoring the youngster. However, he has a contract with Tottenham valid until 2030, and it won’t be easy to prise him away.
An incredible stat regarding Luka Vuskovic has surfaced
Vuskovic is 6”4’ and is known for his aerial prowess. He has scored five goals and provided one assist in 27 games for Hamburg as a centre-back and also won multiple penalties.
However, the 19-year-old has also improved in his defensive contributions this season. He is, in fact, the only player in Europe’s Top 5 leagues to have 100+ clearances, recoveries, duels won, and aerial duels won. He has made 228 clearances, 109 recoveries, and won 191 duels and 138 aerial duels.
This would be an incredible stat for any seasoned defender. However, to know that this is Vuskovic’s first season in Europe’s Top 5 leagues and that he’s just 19 makes this stat even more mind-boggling.
It’s no surprise that many clubs are interested in signing him. Vuskovic also recently opened up about his future at Tottenham. He expressed his desire to stay at Hamburg for another year to play with his brother, Mario.
The youngster has also earned four caps for Croatia and is expected to be their starting centre-back at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Vuskovic staying at Hamburg for another year could bode well for Tottenham
Tottenham have a big decision to make with Vuskovic this summer. They cannot allow him to leave permanently, even if they get relegated. Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, and Radu Dragusin have all been linked with a move away. Hence, Spurs could bring the Croatian defender back and make him a starter.
However, it’s unclear if he would be ready for the Premier League, considering his lack of pace. Moreover, he could look to force his way out if they are in the Championship. Hence, loaning him back to Hamburg for another season could be a good move.
This would allow Vuskovic to develop further in one of Europe’s Top 5 leagues. This would also allow Tottenham another season to potentially bounce back and improve next season to ward off competition for the youngster’s signature in 2027.
