Igor Tudor’s tumultuous 44-day spell in charge of Tottenham drew to a sad climax earlier today as the two parties parted ways by mutual consent.
The past week has been difficult, to say the least, for the Croatian, who has had to deal with the passing of his father, Mario.
Tudor picked up just one point from six Premier League games in charge of Tottenham, with the 3-0 defeat to fellow relegation strugglers proving to be his last game at the club.
Jamie O’Hara is one of the most vocal supporters of the club on social media and has never refrained from sharing his opinion, no matter how scathing or controversial it may be.
And no, the former Tottenham man has delivered his verdict on Tudor’s sacking.
Tottenham preparing for ‘last throw of the dice’
Tudor came under immense scrutiny after the club’s defeat to Forest. Not only did they fall flat under pressure, but they also allowed their rivals to leapfrog them in the Premier League table.
Tottenham are now just a point above 18th-placed West Ham United, with the prospect of relegation looming large at N17.
After the Forest game, O’Hara referred to Tudor as the worst appointment in Tottenham’s history and launched an astonishing attack on him.
And now, he feels Tottenham’s job is ‘half done’ after his sacking as he urged the club to appoint the right manager.
“Igor is gone, had to be done, that’s half the job,” wrote O’Hara on X.
“Now we have to get the right person to save this season, someone who knows his formation, knows the league and will stick to his team, give them belief and get a tune out of the best players, last throw of the dice.”
Dyche fits O’Hara’s description to the T
Tottenham are plotting a move for Sean Dyche, who has been without a job since his Forest sacking last month.
The experienced Englishman knows what it takes to survive in a relegation battle, having successfully steered Burnley and Everton from the drop in the not-so-distant future.
Speaking on talkSPORT yesterday, Dyche said he was flattered by links to Tottenham but didn’t delve into whether he has been offered the job, which could be a sign that he is keeping his cards close to his chest.
Avoiding relegation is the name of the game for Tottenham, by hook or by crook. Their style of play and performance won’t matter as long as they get points on the board. And who better to get the job done than Dyche, who comes with a proven track record of doing exactly that?
O’Hara can be a bit of a loose cannon sometimes, but it’s hard to disagree with his assessment as Tottenham need an experienced coach who can do the job for the next seven games.
The ‘last throw of the dice’ comments couldn’t be more apt.
