Harry Kane returning to Tottenham remains the dream signing for Ledley King and a large section of the Spurs support.
The former captain gave a simple answer when asked which player he would bring to north London this summer: “Bring Harry Kane back.”
King made the admission during an appearance with Tottenham content creator Chris Cowlin. His answer reflected the lasting connection between Kane and the club where he became their record goalscorer.
However, there is currently no indication that Tottenham are working on a deal with Bayern Munich.
Harry Kane Tottenham return backed by Ledley King
“Bring Harry Kane back,” King said when asked to name his ideal summer signing. The short response was shared by Chris Cowlin on X.
Kane remains one of the leading strikers in world football and would immediately transform Roberto De Zerbi’s attack. Spurs have strengthened their midfield and defence heavily, but the head coach still wants important additions across the forward line.
Tottenham’s striker situation could also change before the window closes. ReadTottenham reported on Monday that Spurs are open to selling Richarlison for between £17million and £21million, with Juventus among the interested clubs.
His departure would leave Tottenham needing another established centre-forward alongside Mathys Tel and Dane Scarlett.
Kane would provide guaranteed goals, leadership and a player who already understands the expectations surrounding the club. A Harry Kane Tottenham return would also be hugely popular with supporters.
The emotional argument is obvious, but the practical route remains difficult. Kane is settled at Bayern and the German champions want him to remain an important part of their plans.
King has nevertheless said aloud what many Tottenham supporters continue to hope. Should Kane ever become available, Spurs would find it almost impossible not to explore a reunion.
