  • Vicario to have hernia operation
  • Kinsky gets chance at redemption
  • Italian will play against Forest

Just when things started to look up for Tottenham Hotspur in terms of their form and injuries, it looks like they could be one of their key players for the rest of the season.

The game against Atletico Madrid saw the likes of Destiny Udogie, Lucas Bergvall, Cristian Romero and Conor Gallagher return to action in what was a massive boost for the club.

Ahead of their game against Nottingham Forest on Sunday, Igor Tudor provided a positive injury update on Tottenham, with James Maddison, Mohammed Kudus and Rodrigo Bentancur edging closer to returning to full fitness.

However, if reports from Italy are to be believed, their cruel luck with injuries seems to have struck again in the form of Guglielmo Vicario.

Vicario to miss crucial Tottenham run

In recent weeks, Vicario has undergone a bit of a whirlwind spell at N17.

After being dropped for Antonin Kinsky in the first leg against Atletico Madrid, he was subbed on in the first half after the Czech goalkeeper endured a torrid opening spell that led to two glaring errors.

He has kept his place since, featuring in the 1-1 draw against Liverpool and also the 3-2 success against Atletico in the second leg.

Italian football journalist Gianluca di Marzio initially revealed that Vicario will miss the rest of the season as he’s set to undergo a hernia operation.

In response to his claims, Tottenham released an official statement, confirming that the Italian will indeed undergo a hernia operation.

However, in their statement, they clarified that he should return to action sometime next month, allaying fears that he is out for the rest of the season.

Redeption arc for Kinsky

With Vicario linked with moves to Inter Milan and Juventus, an injury absence for the rest of the season might have meant that he has already played his last game for Tottenham.

However, the club statement has confirmed that he will feature this season, and judging by their wording, he could well feature against Forest on Sunday, as the operation is only scheduled for Monday.

Alasdair Gold has confirmed that the Italian will be available on Sunday, with Kinsky set to deputise for him in his absence.

A redemption arc could well be on the cards for the talented 22-year-old, who will look to put that torrid night in Madrid behind him to redeem himself in the Premier League.

That said, the margin for error is as low as it can be, as Tottenham are well and truly in a relegation battle. Speedy recovery to Vic and good luck to Anto, whenever he plays next!
