Tottenham midfielder Luca Williams-Barnett’s name has dominated the headlines over the past few hours.
The young midfielder was a regular in pre-season, but since then, he hasn’t featured as much as he’d have liked.
Earlier today, Sky Sports reported that Williams-Barnett is wanted by Premier League and Bundesliga clubs in 2027, which irked the Tottenham faithful.
And now, Tom Barclay has confirmed that the Lilywhites want to offer him a new deal to fend off potential suitors.
Tottenham want to renew Luca Williams-Barnett’s contract
An excerpt from Barclay’s article reads: “Spurs want to tie the youngster down to fresh terms, with his existing deal believed to run out in 2028.
“He is one of the most exciting talents to come through their academy in recent years and made his senior debut in September last year as a 16-year-old in the Carabao Cup.
“Williams-Barnett, who turned 18 on October 1, was an unused sub for the 3-0 loss at Brentford on the first weekend of the Premier League season.”
De Zerbi sang his praises earlier this season and has kept him in and around the matchday squad, so he is clearly highly rated.
And Tottenham are doing the right thing by offering the youngster a new contract, which will show him just how much he is wanted.
