Tottenham Hotspur are back training at Hotspur Way under Roberto De Zerbi. This Dejan Kulusevski training update confirms the winger remains part of full group sessions during the international break. Non-international players returned this week after a short rest. The head coach is using the window to prepare for Spurs’ home game against Manchester United on October 10.
De Zerbi has built the week around fitness work and tactical repetition rather than a full squad session. Several senior players are away on national duty. That absence has given him extra time with the smaller group who stayed behind.
De Zerbi Leads Hotspur Way Return Ahead of Manchester United Match
Tottenham’s players filtered back into training at Hotspur Way this week. De Zerbi oversaw sessions built around those not called up for international fixtures. The work is aimed squarely at the Manchester United match on October 10, the club’s next fixture after the break.
With a large part of the first team away, sessions have focused on individual conditioning and small-group drills rather than full eleven-a-side work. That has allowed the head coach to focus closely on players managing fitness or returning from injury.
Kulusevski Feature in App Gallery and Queiroz Explains Kudus Absence
Tottenham’s official app published a gallery of training images this week showing Kulusevski continuing group work after a 16-month absence through injury. The pictures mark a further step in his recovery. The Swede is pictured working alongside team-mates at Hotspur Way rather than on an individual programme.
Mohammed Kudus also stayed in north London instead of travelling for international duty. Ghana manager Carlos Queiroz released him to focus on training and recovery at Spurs. Queiroz explained the timing of his decision: “I had to make the decision on Wednesday or Thursday with the matches, that I was able to scout and make the right observations but later on other information about the status of the player after he played 70 something minutes, unfortunately the news was that they were not progressing in the direction that we expect.”
Queiroz said he spoke to Kudus directly before confirming the call. “In my final conversation with Kudus, we realised that the best decision was to protect his progress and recovery process and keep the hope that in this period with more training and more games in the legs, in the next round, Kudus will be ready to be with us.” He added that avoiding a repeat injury was the priority: “In this moment for him, the most sensitive situation is that he can’t take the risk to have a setback like he had before. Nobody wants to take that risk.”
De Zerbi Works with Eight First-Team Stars Left Out of International Duty
With so many players away, De Zerbi has been able to put in extra work with those who stayed at the training ground. Tosin Adarabioyo, Kudus, Marcos Senesi, Destiny Udogie, Dominic Solanke, Conor Gallagher, Savio and James Maddison have all featured in the sessions.
Senesi, Udogie and Savio were left out of squads named by Argentina, Italy and Brazil respectively. That freed them to train under De Zerbi throughout the break. Tosin used the week to build on his first start against Liverpool at Anfield in the Carabao Cup. It was his first appearance from kickoff for the club.
Striker Dominic Solanke and Gallagher round out the group, giving De Zerbi a settled core to work with before the wider squad reassembles. Maddison’s continued presence in training will be welcomed by supporters, given his importance to the side’s creative play.
Spurs Timeline Leading to Manchester United Clashes on October 10
The Dejan Kulusevski training update comes as Tottenham build towards their Premier League meeting with Manchester United on October 10. Non-international players had a week’s rest before returning to Hotspur Way this week. That gave De Zerbi time to work with his smaller group before the internationals reassemble.
Full training is expected to resume once players return from Ghana, Argentina, Italy, Brazil and other call-ups later in the window. The club has not set out further team news or fitness updates beyond confirming who has taken part in sessions so far. Further detail on the build-up, including the situations of Kudus and Kulusevski, is covered in the football.london training report.
