Tottenham decide to sell nine players including Richarlison and Dominic Solanke

Share

At a glance:

  • Tottenham put 9 players on transfer list
  • Dominic Solanke and Richarlison could be sold
  • Spurs planning a huge rebuild

Tottenham Hotspur are expected to have a busy summer transfer window after a disappointing 2025-26 campaign.

They failed to build on their UEFA Europa League win and are now battling relegation in the Premier League, with three games remaining. They are just one point above West Ham, but have a game in hand.

Spurs also failed to go deep into any cup competitions and faced another injury crisis. Hence, they need a major squad overhaul this summer, which will start with multiple departures.

Some Tottenham players will certainly leave this summer

While their Premier League status hangs in the balance, some Tottenham players are expected to leave even if they stay up. Ben Davies and Yves Bissouma’s contracts expire in the summer, and they will leave as free agents. Meanwhile, Randal Kolo Muani will return to PSG after his underwhelming loan spell.

Radu Dragusin and Pape Matar Sarr have also been linked with moves away. Dragusin has garnered interest from Italian and German clubs this summer, while Sarr is linked with the likes of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. Guglielmo Vicario, meanwhile, has been heavily linked with Inter Milan.

Journalist Ben Jacobs has told GiveMeSport that Vicario and Cristian Romero will leave Tottenham even if they avoid relegation. He added that the attacking duo of Dominic Solanke and Richarlison could also be sold, saying:

“You have older players, for example, Richarlison, or even Dom Solanke, that Tottenham might be open to offers for.”

While these nine players are expected to leave, there are doubts over Joao Pahinha’s future as well. Roberto De Zerbi has asserted that Spurs will permanently sign Palhinha after his loan spell is completed.

Tottenham need to back De Zerbi

Once again, Spurs find themselves approaching a crucial summer transfer window with a new manager. De Zerbi has a completely different playing style from Thomas Frank and has already shown improvements with minimal players.

He appears set to keep Tottenham in the Premier League when their relegation appeared certain.

However, the Spurs hierarchy cannot see it as a success. A club of Tottenham Hotspur’s size should not be in a relegation battle.

They must back De Zerbi with better players in the summer, who also suit his playing style. Selling players is a good start, but their replacements must also be good enough.

The north London side have been linked with the likes of Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi if they stay in the Premier League.

However, they need a major rebuild in every area of the pitch. Having given De Zerbi a five-year contract, the board arguably has its last opportunity to show some ambition in the transfer market before the fan protests grow even louder.
