- Marco Senesi rejects Juventus offer
- Wants to remain in the Premier League
- Tottenham leading the chase this summer
AFC Bournemouth star Marco Senesi has dropped a massive hint about his future amid interest from Tottenham.
Spurs are in the market for a defender as Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven could leave this summer. Recent reports suggest the duo have strong interest from several sides in Europe, and they are weighing their options after back-to-back seasons in the relegation zone.
The Lilywhites have been linked with a move for Senesi after his contract at Bournemouth expires. The Argentine will be a free agent in the summer, but there are other clubs interested in the defender.
Senesi rejects offer from Juventus
Juventus have been keen on signing Senesi this summer and reportedly tabled an offer to the Argentine. The Old Lady offered him a four-year deal worth €3 million per season as they looked to lure him to Italy.
According to a report by Mirko Di Natale of TuttoJuve, the Bournemouth star has rejected the offer. He is holding out for a €5 million per season deal, and is also keen to stay in the Premier League.
Apart from Tottenham, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United have also been linked with a move for the Argentine. However, the 28-year-old has not agreed terms with any side, with The Athletic reporting that Spurs are in advanced talks.
Staying in the Premier League key for Tottenham move
Fabrizio Romano spoke about Senesi in recent weeks, confirming that Juventus were preparing a move for the defender. He added that Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham were also keen on the Bournemouth star this summer.
However, the interest from Spurs comes with a condition, as they need to avoid relegation for him to become a ‘serious option’.
The Argentine wants to continue in the top flight, and the Italian journalist said:
“So around Senesi, there is a lot of interest. There was a proposal coming from Juventus. But at the moment, the player prefers to stay in the Premier League, so the preference is to continue in England.
“Let’s see what happens there, because there are many links also with Chelsea, with Man Utd, Tottenham.
“I think it’s going to be really important to understand whether Tottenham stay in the Premier League or not. If they stay up, Senesi can be a serious option.”
Tottenham are out of the drop zone following their win over Aston Villa last weekend.
Robert De Zerbi’s side are unbeaten in their last three games, and the North London side will be keen on getting him his targets in the summer to avoid another bottom-half finish next season.
