At a glance:
- Tottenham want to sign Ewen Jaouen
- Brighton and Newcastle United also interested
- Currently plays for Reims
Tottenham are expected to make a change or two to their goalkeeping options in the summer transfer window.
And after Roberto De Zerbi’s arrival, they’ve immediately become a more eye-catching destination for top talents across the globe, more so if they avoid relegation.
The Italian has breathed new life into Tottenham, winning each of his last two Premier League games to steer them out of the relegation zone.
And now, if reports from France are to be believed, they are keeping tabs on one of the brightest young goalkeepers on the planet.
Tottenham want to sign Ewen Jaouen
Guglielmo Vicario has been linked with a move to Inter Milan and is likely to move on in the summer after three seasons at the club.
Antonin Kinsky has recovered from his horror show in Madrid to deliver important performances in recent weeks.
However, if Vicario leaves, De Zerbi will need another goalkeeper as Brandon Austin is the only other shot-stopper in the senior squad.
GFFN report that Tottenham want to sign Ewen Jaouen, who currently plies his trade with Reims in Ligue 2.
Despite being just 20, the Paris-born goalkeeper has delivered a string of eye-catching displays, which has led to interest from English clubs.
The report also states that Reims value him at around £18m, with Brighton and Newcastle United also interested in securing his signature.
Tottenham’s other goalkeeping options
Since the start of the year, speculation surrounding Vicario’s future have dominated the back pages.
We’ve covered all of this extensively on Read Tottenham, with the club keeping tabs on a handful of goalkeepers across the planet. The following list has a few names from their shortlist.
- Bart Verbruggen (Brighton)
- Lucas Chevalier (PSG)
- Robin Risser (Lens)
- Robin Roefs (Sunderland)
- Noah Atubolu (Freiburg)
- James Trafford (Manchester City)
- Karl Darlow (Leeds United)
De Zerbi’s brand of football requires a goalkeeper who is strong with the ball at his feet, so Tottenham will carefully assess their options before pressing ahead with a transfer.
Jaouen seems like a bit of a rough diamond at this stage, which is exactly the case with Kinsky.
So maybe the North London outfit are better off going for someone more established, but at this point in time, it’s just a guessing game as we’re still a few weeks away from the transfer window opening.
