Share

At a glance:

  • Tottenham draw against Leeds
  • They remain 2 points above West Ham
  • Spurs haven’t won at home since December 6, 2025

Tottenham Hotspur only managed a 1-1 draw against Leeds United at home in the Premier League on Monday, May 11.

It was a decent first half for Spurs, as they showed great initiative and energy. They pressed well for most parts and created some half-chances, with Pedro Porro at the heart of it.

Leeds also competed well and had an excellent chance with Joe Rodon on a set piece, but Antonin Kinsky produced a brilliant save to deny him.

Tottenham created some chances from set pieces of their own, but failed to convert them. The first half also got scrappy at times, with some late fouls and poor possession from both sides. It ended all square.

However, the second half started perfectly for Spurs. Mathys Tel scored an outstanding goal in the 50th minute from the edge of the box after a corner fell to him. The hosts continued to press, but didn’t convert their half-chances.

Tel then gave away a penalty in the 72nd minute after a foul on Ethan Ampadu, which Dominic Calvert-Lewin converted. The game was well contested after that as Leeds clawed their way back into the contest. Spurs did get some set pieces but failed to do much with them.

Leeds then pushed hard in stoppage and almost scored a late winner, but Kinsky denied them a goal. Tottenham also had a late penalty appeal denied on James Maddison.

It eventually ended in a controversial 1-1 draw.

Tottenham Player Ratings against Wolves

Antonin Kinsky – 8/10

He made a tremendous save in the first half from a Rodon header. He then made an astounding save in stoppage time to deny Sean Longstaff a late winner.

Pedro Porro – 8/10

He started the game really well, linking well with Randal Kolo Muani and Richarlison. He created two good chances for the Brazilian and also had a really good shot in the first half.

Kevin Danso – 6.5/10

He snuffed out some of Leeds’ attacks but was also caught out a couple of times, leading to him getting booked.

Micky van de Ven – 7/10

He didn’t have much to do in the first half, but dealt largely neatly with the little that came his way. He did snuff out danger largely well in the second half.

Destiny Udogie – 7.5/10

He started off well, snuffing out Leeds’ attacks numerous times, and was largely neat in possession as well.

Conor Gallagher – 6/10

He pressed really well again, which even led to some turnovers for Spurs. He also helped the defense with his crucial interceptions and tackles.

Joao Palhinha – 6/10

He was largely anonymous and struggled to replicate his performance against Aston Villa. He had a couple of decent moments, but he didn’t impact the game a lot.

Rodrigo Bentancur – 7/10

He was excellent again, breaking up Leeds’ attacks, while also driving Tottenham forward.

His passing was largely neat, and he also carried the ball nicely. He also got on the end of some crosses in both boxes really well.

Mathys Tel – 6/10

He was energetic and showed some initiative, but was wasteful in possession in the first half. He scored an incredible goal in the 50th minute right from the edge of the box.

However, Tel then gave away a poor foul in the box, leading to Calvert-Lewin’s goal.

Richarlison – 7/10

He pressed hard, as often, and also had a couple of half-chances in the first half.

Randal Kolo Muani – 5.5/10

He was again energetic without the ball and pressed well, but was wasteful on the ball.

Substitutes:

James Maddison – 7/10

The Englishman returned to action after around nine months out due to his ACL injury. He tried to make an impact and also had a big penalty appeal denied in stoppage time.

Djed Spence – 6/10

He didn’t have much to do after replacing Udogie late in the game.
