Tottenham news today: Rashford update, Fagioli links and new striker wanted

Share

At a glance:

  • Barcelona plotting second Rashford loan spell
  • Tottenham want Nicolo Fagioli
  • Ayase Ueda scouted

The most important Tottenham news over the past 24 hours has been Dominic Solanke’s injury blow.

While the club are yet to confirm, the Englishman has picked up a grade-two hamstring injury after limping off vs Wolves.

Solanke will not feature against Aston Villa and could well miss the rest of his season. We covered his injury in detail on Read Tottenham, but today, there have been a few transfer updates to keep an eye on.

Tottenham want Nicolo Fagioli

Tottenham have bodies in midfield, but most of the players they currently have at their disposal possess the same skillset.

Roberto De Zerbi’s 4-2-3-1 set-up would benefit from two deeper midfielders and this is where his compatriot could come into play.

Tottenham have been linked with a move for Nicolo Fagioli, who has come of age at Fiorentina.

However, they could be haunted by Fabio Paratici, who is currently in charge of the Serie A side as their sporting director.

Paratici has no intention of parting with Fagioli, making a potential transfer very difficult at this stage.

Barcelona make cunning Rashford plan

Yesterday, we covered Tottenham’s interest in Marcus Rashford, who is currently on loan at Barcelona.

The England international has done reasonably well in Spain and is wanted permanently.

However, due to a combination of financial constraints and having other transfer priorities, the Catalan giants may not be able to do so.

However, Barcelona are now looking to sign Rashford on loan again, which would allow them the opportunity to get the deal done permanently next year.

In any case, a move to the La Liga giants is his first choice, so maybe this isn’t a big loss for Tottenham after all.

Tottenham scouting Ayase Ueda

De Zerbi surely needs an attacker or two in the summer transfer window.

To be honest, Tottenham have some quality on the wings when full strength as the likes of Mohammed Kudus and Wilson Odobert are currently injured.

However, up front, it is a different story. Solanke and Richarlison haven’t scored as regularly as they’d like, while Randal Kolo Muani is set to return to PSG after his loan spell expires.

Tottenham are scouting Ayase Ueda, who is enjoying a breakthrough season with Feyenoord in Eredivisie.

The Japanese international is expected to feature at the 2026 FIFA World Cup later this summer and could well be one to watch.
