At a glance:
- Tottenham have genuine interest in Marcus Rashford
- Manchester United man may not join Barcelona permanently
- Deal hinges on Spurs avoiding relegation
The upcoming summer transfer window promises to be an eventful one for Tottenham, whether or not they avoid relegation.
Roberto De Zerbi will look to inject fresh blood into a squad that has desperately lacked confidence and drive this season.
Tottenham are in the relegation zone and have struggled badly in attack, in particular.
A handful of attacking reinforcements are expected this summer, although a lot would depend on avoiding relegation.
And now, if reports from Spain are to be believed, the North London outfit are planning an audacious move for Marcus Rashford.
Tottenham ‘genuinely interested’ in Marcus Rashford
Marcus Rashford is currently on loan at Barcelona after a falling out with then-Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim.
The Englishman spent the second half of last season on loan at Villa and got a move to Spain in the hope of rejuvenating his career.

Things started well for Rashford, but since the turn of the year, they have gone downhill, which has led to a rethink from the Barcelona hierarchy on whether or not they want to sign him permanently.
And now, Sport report that Tottenham are ‘genuinely interested’ in signing the Manchester United attacker in the summer.
Barcelona have the option to sign him permanently for €30m. However, due to a combination of financial constraints and having other priorities to address, they aren’t likely to take up that option.
That said, Manchester United agreed to sell him for €30m when they finalised their loan deal, which is a sign that a similar fee could be enough for Tottenham or other interested clubs.
The report also states that any move for Rashford will understandably depend on Tottenham securing their Premier League status.
Rashford not what Tottenham need
The Englishman could be a good fit for Tottenham as a left winger or a striker in De Zerbi’s 4-2-3-1 set-up.

Additionally, that fee isn’t massive and he’s already delivered the goods in the Premier League.
However, Rashford has blown hot and cold in recent seasons and would command huge wages, which is something Tottenham have refrained from doing in recent years.
They have a proper wage structure in place and won’t pay over the odds for anyone, let alone someone like Rashford, who hasn’t been consistent for well over two seasons now.
While Rashford is still a good player, Tottenham are better off looking elsewhere as they aim to fine-tune their squad in the summer.
