Just when things began to look up for Tottenham, it appears as if they have suffered a massive injury blow involving Mohammed Kudus.
The Ghanaian international has been on the sidelines since January 4th after suffering a hamstring injury. Tottenham are winless in the Premier League since his absence, which goes to show just how important he is to the team.
Kudus was expected to make his long-awaited return from injury after the international break as fans waited eagerly to see how new boss Roberto De Zerbi would use him.
And now, reliable sources have appeared to confirm Tottenham’s worst fears.
Kudus could miss 2026 FIFA World Cup
After hobbling off in early January, the Ghanaian didn’t play a single game under Igor Tudor, who left the club after just 44 days in charge.
In late February, Tudor confirmed that Kudus would be back after the international break, so things looked like they were going as planned.
However, as confirmed by Tom Barclay, he has suffered an injury setback in training and is unlikely to play for Tottenham again this season.
In fact, Kudus’ 2026 FIFA World Cup hopes with Ghana are also in doubt, which is a clear sign that this isn’t just a minor setback.
Jake Sanders, who broke the story along with Barclay, believed Kudus could need surgery in the coming days, after which the extent of his injury is set to be confirmed.
Alasdair Gold weighs in on Kudus
De Zerbi was seen coaching his Tottenham players throughout the week on the club’s social media handles.
Strangely, Kudus never appeared in any of the footage or pictures, raising doubts over his fitness.
And now Tottenham’s first fears have been confirmed in a season where everything that can go wrong has already gone wrong.
As per Alasdair Gold of Football London, the former West Ham United winger has suffered a setback with his quad, although the extent is unclear.
We’ll have to wait for more information and official confirmation, but Kudus isn’t expected to be available for De Zerbi, at least for the rest of the month.
The Italian’s first game in charge of the club will be on Sunday when they travel to the Stadium of Light to take on Sunderland.
And with the prospect of relegation looming large at N17, De Zerbi will have to make do without arguably the most talented player in his squad.
