Tottenham appear set to make a change in the goalkeeping department this summer, with Guglielmo Vicario linked with an exit.
Tottenham have struggled massively this season, and hence, all of their players have faced criticism. One such player is Vicario, who has put in some disappointing performances in recent months. However, it has now been revealed that he has been dealing with a hernia for weeks as well.
If Vicario leaves, Spurs will need a replacement, with his backup, Antonin Kinsky, failing to impress. The Czech international has made numerous mistakes in his limited appearances for the north London side.
Tottenham join race for James Trafford
Vicario appears set to join Inter Milan this summer. Hence, Tottenham are lining up potential options to replace him. As per The Sun, one of the names on their list is James Trafford.
The English goalkeeper could be set for an exit this summer, having joined Manchester City just last year. The Cityzens signed him from Burnley, but just a few days later, they signed Gianluigi Donnarumma to become their first-choice goalkeeper.
Since then, Trafford has had to deputise for the Italian in cup competitions after initially being promised a starting role.

Earlier this year, Pep Guardiola said about the Englishman (h/t BBC Sport):
“He is so reliable. Fantastic keeper.”
The 23-year-old has impressed in his limited game time. In his 10 cup appearances, Trafford has kept six clean sheets, helping them win the EFL Cup. He’s also helped City reach the FA Cup semi-finals.
Hence, he is likely to leave in the summer for regular playing time. Tottenham have joined the race to sign him, but they will have to compete with Newcastle United and Aston Villa for his signature.
Newcastle were also linked with Trafford last summer, while Villa could need a potential replacement for Emi Martinez.
Trafford will look to become England’s No. 1
Amidst a choice of clubs this summer, a big consideration for Trafford would be the best chance to get into the England squad. While Jordan Pickford is their first-choice goalkeeper, the 32-year-old faces tough competition for the spot.
In October last year, Pep Guardiola claimed that Trafford would become England’s No. 1 soon. The Manchester City goalkeeper also made his debut for the Three Lions last month.
All three of Tottenham, Newcastle, and Aston Villa have multiple players in the England squad. However, Spurs find themselves in danger of getting relegated this season.
If they do move to the Championship, they might struggle to convince Trafford to join them, even for a big fee. City signed him for £27 million from Burnley and his contract is valid until 2030, which could be yet another stumbling block in the deal.
