Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Evan Ndicka this summer. However, they will face competition from the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich for his signature.
Tottenham are 17th in the Premier League standings, just one point above the relegation zone, after 31 games. They have conceded 50 goals in the league this season, with only the bottom three sides having conceded more.
Hence, Tottenham are, understandably, looking to strengthen their defence in the summer. Moreover, there is speculation about the futures of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, which could lead to the club needing replacements as well.
Tottenham retain interest in Evan Ndicka
As per Caught Offside, Tottenham are interested in Evan Ndicka, whom they have been monitoring for over nine months. They were also linked with the centre-back last summer, but a deal didn’t go through.
Ndicka has also garnered interest from numerous top clubs in Europe, like Manchester United, Liverpool, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich. AS Roma would prefer to keep him at the club, with his contract expiring in 2028. They also rejected a bid from Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr last summer.

However, as per the aforementioned report, they could be persuaded by a fee of around £39 million. Moreover, the Italian giants also need to raise funds before June 30 due to their reported financial deal with UEFA. Hence, they could be forced into selling some of their key players, including Ndicka.
Ndicka came through AJ Auxerre’s academy before joining Eintracht Frankfurt in 2018. He spent five years with the German side before joining AS Roma. The 26-year-old has made 120 senior appearances for the Italian side.
Ndicka could replace Van de Ven
Micky van de Ven has been linked with a move away from Tottenham in the summer despite his contract being valid until 2029. While multiple clubs are interested in signing him, Van de Ven is reportedly waiting for Real Madrid.
If the Dutchman leaves Tottenham in the summer, Ndicka could be a good replacement. While the Ivory Coast international doesn’t have the pace of Van de Ven, he is left-footed, physically dominant, and good on the ball.

Moreover, an opportunity to nail down a regular starting spot could entice the Roma defender. He might have to compete fiercely in his position at the likes of Liverpool, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich.
However, any potential move for Ndicka will most likely depend on Tottenham avoiding relegation this season.
