Tottenham Hotspur seemed to have finally turned a corner and will look to build on their 1-1 draw against Liverpool on Sunday.
They produced their best performance against Igor Tudor despite being ravaged by injuries, with only 13 fit senior players part of the matchday squad at Anfield.
The Croatian has worked with bare bones so far as Tottenham continue to recover from one of their worst spells in terms of injuries and form.
And now, ahead of the UEFA Champions League clash against Atletico Madrid, five players who have missed lengthy spells this season due to injuries have been spotted in training.
Bergvall and Udogie among players spotted in Tottenham training
Tottenham were well beaten in Spain as they fell to a 5-2 defeat against Diego Simeone’s side.
Antonin Kinsky endured one of the worst nights of his career at the Wanda Metropolitano, with the Czech goalkeeper grabbing headlines for all the wrong reasons after committing two high-profile errors.
However, in the week that has followed, the rub of the green seems to be going Tudor’s side.
First, they secured a hard-fought point at Anfield to finally stop the rot in the Premier League, although they are still perilously close to the relegation zone.
And now, things seem to be getting even better on the injury front, with Lucas Bergvall, Destiny Udogie, James Maddison, Cristian Romero and Joao Palhinha all spotted in training ahead of Atletico’s visit.
Bergvall wasn’t expected to return until mid-April, but he’s been spotted back on the grass and it remains to be seen when he’s deemed fully match fit.
Romero and Palhinha missed the game against Liverpool after a nasty clash of heads in Spain led to them being on the sidelines at Anfield due to the Premier League’s concussion protocol.
As for Udogie, he hasn’t featured since the 2-0 defeat to Manchester United in February as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury.
Maddison, on the other hand, hasn’t featured at all this season due to an ACL injury and remains unlikely to do so despite being spotted in training.
There was, however, no sign of Conor Gallagher, who missed the game against Liverpool due to illness. Richarlison was absent as well, but Alasdair Gold claims he was spotted at the gym, allaying fears of a potential injury.
Who could be in the squad for Atletico clash?
Romero and Palhinha could be drafted straight into the XI after missing the game against Liverpool, while the same is likely for Micky van de Ven, who served a one-match ban after his sending off against Crystal Palace.
While Tottenham will err on the side of caution with Bergvall and Maddison, Udogie looks like he could have an outside chance of featuring against Atletico.

Nevertheless, Tottenham’s injury woes seem to be easing at the right time, which could prove to be invaluable for the club as they fight to avoid the drop.
Tudor is expected to address the media later today, so we can expect a more elaborate injury update from the boss shortly.
