What the Tottenham players did to console Antonin Kinsky after his substitution vs Atletico

Antonin Kinsky’s UEFA Champions League debut couldn’t have gotten any worse as he endured a calamitous 15-minute spell between the sticks for Tottenham.

Igor Tudor opted to bench Guglielmo Vicario for the game against Atletico Madrid, with the Czech international getting a chance to impress.

However, things quickly turned sour for him as he initially slipped and later failed to get his hands on a shot from Marcos Llorente for the opening goal of the game.

Ten minutes later, with his side already 2-0 down after Antoine Griezmann’s goal, Kinsky’s night went from bad to worse as his half-hearted clearance gave the ball directly to Julian Alvarez, who walked the ball into an empty net.

Moments later, he was substituted as Tudor opted to restore Vicario between the sticks.

As the young goalkeeper walked down the tunnel, the Tottenham substitutes were spotted following him in the hope of consoling him.

Kinsky walks straight down the tunnel for Tottenham

The 22-year-old’s first appearance in the competition will be one he’ll never forget, for all the wrong reasons.

Both his errors were disastrous, to say the least, as he crumbled under the pressure of a gruelling away game in the Champions League.

As seen in the video, Kinsky went straight down the tunnel as he was replaced by Vicario.

The Tottenham bench did their best to console him, as the likes of Joao Palhinha, Conor Gallagher and Dominic Solanke got up from the bench and appeared to follow him down the tunnel.

Kinsky’s display sums up Tottenham’s season

Tottenham are 4-1 down at half-time in the first leg as their season went from bad to worse in Spain.

Kinsky’s 15-minute capitulation was almost unbelievable to witness and he dug his own grave under no pressure whatsoever. He is a young player and will only learn from it, but the fact of the matter is that the rub of the green is well and truly against Tottenham.

Everything Tudor has touched has turned to dirt so far, which is a far cry from the new manager bounce they expected when he replaced Thomas Frank as interim boss.

To be completely, not too many Tottenham fans will be too bothered about their impending European elimination as their Premier League status is currently hanging by a thread.

Which begs the question: should they bite the bullet with Tudor after just four games, or persist with him and risk relegation?
