It was a happy outing for Tottenham Hotspur as they secured a 3-1 win against Coventry City in the Premier League.
The home fans were bouncing and were treated to three goals from James Maddison, Omar Marmoush and Ben Davies, while Jack Rudoni scored for the away side.
Ahead of the game, most of the talk was around Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski as they prepared to make their long-awaited injury comebacks.
And Roberto De Zerbi feels the two attacking midfielders add something different to his squad.
James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski invaluable for Tottenham
While Maddison made his first start in over 500 days and scored a scorcher in the first half, Kulusevski was finally part of the matchday squad and made a late cameo, which was his first appearance for the club in nearly 18 months.
Speaking after the game, De Zerbi singled out the Tottenham duo for special praise.
“Yes, very happy for the result, very happy for Maddison, very happy for Deki Kulusevski,” said the Italian via Football London.
“I think we played much better in other games, Old Trafford, Aston Villa especially in the first half, Everton especially in the first half, Liverpool in the Carabao Cup, but we didn’t play so well, not for our responsibility.
“Different players. They are different players. Different talent, different experience, different personality. With them in the dressing room, there is another atmosphere.”
Tottenham are out of the relegation zone and have finally won a Premier League game. And with key players now fully fit, maybe this is what they need to really put together a run of wins.
