James Maddison is expected to make his long-awaited Tottenham return today when they take on Coventry City at home.
Roberto De Zerbi’s side are without a win in the competition this season and could use all the help they can get to climb the table.
And with the likes of Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski now ready to feature, the tide could be set to turn for Tottenham.
Ahead of the game, the England international had made an interesting claim on Mathys Tel, who continues to blow hot and cold at North London.
Mathys Tel named Tottenham’s most skillful player
Tel has featured regularly under De Zerbi, but his end product continues to let him down.
However, Maddison feels the Frenchman has all the ability to become a consistent matchwinner.
“I went with Mathys Tel,” said Maddison via Sky Sports when asked to name his most skillful Tottenham teammate.
“Just super quick feet, super quick. Just very good one-on-one. Even today in small-sided games, his feet were so sharp. If we can get Mathys into one-v-one situations more, I think you’ll see the best of him.
“Especially this year, with this manager, we’re playing more attacking football. If we can get him the ball a lot, then he can torment some full-backs. Great quick feet.”
With a handful of attackers injured, Tel will look to make his opportunities count in the coming weeks, which would in turn endear himself to the Tottenham faithful once again.
