Tottenham have ‘already made contact’ for £34m PSG star who is frustrated due to lack of game time

The summer of 2026 is set to be pivotal for Tottenham, regardless of whether they are in the Premier League or the Championship.

Roberto De Zerbi signed a five-year deal without a relegation clause and will be central to their squad planning.

After winning the UEFA Europa League last summer, things have gone horribly wrong for Tottenham. The goalkeeping position, in particular, is a cause for concern.

And now, if reports from France are to be believed, the Lilywhites have already made contact to sign Lucas Chevalier from PSG.

Tottenham turn to France for Chevalier

The French goalkeeper only signed for the Ligue 1 giants last summer for a fee believed to be in the region of £34m.

However, over the course of the current campaign, he has lost his place to Matvey Safonov. The Russian has quickly become indispensable for Luis Enrique, due to which Chevalier has been relegated to a place on the bench.

Earlier this year, L’Equipe reported that several clubs across Europe have already made contact to sign the French goalkeeper. They also added that his lack of game time has ‘frustrated’ him, which could lead to a transfer.

And now, RMC Sport report that Tottenham have ‘already made contact’ for Chevalier. However, as is the case with many other transfers, the goalkeeper will only consider a move if they remain in the Premier League.

Chevalier signed a five-year deal at PSG last summer, which could prove to be another stumbling block.

Tottenham’s goalkeeper shortlist

Guglielmo Vicario has been heavily linked with a move to Inter Milan and looks all set to bring the curtain down on his three-year stint with Tottenham.

Antonin Kinsky has impressed after his horror show vs Atletico Madrid, but the Czech goalkeeper is likely to be the second choice or sent out on loan.

In recent weeks, Tottenham have been heavily linked with a move for Bart Verbruggen, whom Roberto De Zerbi knows quite well after his stint with Brighton.

Over the past few months, we have covered Tottenham’s list of goalkeeping targets in detail, but here are some of the others who have been linked.

  • James Trafford (Manchester City)
  • Robin Risser (Lens)
  • Karl Darlow (Leeds United)
  • Noah Atubolu (Freiburg)
  • Robin Roefs (Sunderland)

The North London side certainly have a lot of options. However, they need to nail their recruitment this summer after faltering in recent seasons.

De Zerbi likes goalkeeper who are good with their feet and Tottenham need to keep that in mind before pressing ahead with one of the aforementioned options.
