Tottenham have struggled massively this season, while also seeing arch-rivals Arsenal get closer to the Premier League title.
The Gunners sit atop the league with six games remaining, while Tottenham are in the relegation battle. Moreover, Spurs lost both North London Derbies 4-1 this season and haven’t beaten Arsenal since 2022.
Hence, it has been a double whammy for the Spurs fanbase this campaign. However, a Tottenham fan gave them a huge boost on Saturday. Alex Scott scored the winner for Bournemouth against Arsenal to dampen their title hopes.
Scott opens up about his Tottenham affiliation
Arsenal went 1-0 down against Bournemouth at the Emirates in the Premier League on Saturday, as Eli Junior Kroupi scored in the 17th minute. They equalized through a Viktor Gyokeres penalty in the 35th minute.
However, in the 74th minute, Scott showed his composure and finished brilliantly to net the winner for the Cherries. After the game, he was asked about his feelings, especially being a Tottenham fan, and he answered (h/t Football.London):
“Yes, I support Tottenham, though that doesn’t have much to do with today. But growing up as a kid, it was definitely a dream for me [to score against Arsenal]. Bournemouth are my team at the minute but I was a Tottenham fan growing up, so as a kid growing up, I would have been really happy with that.”
“My dad’s Tottenham, yes. A few of my friends were here today and they enjoyed the game as well. So, yes, it’s nice to have everyone here today too,” he added.

Scott’s father, Noel, is also a Tottenham fan, while the Bournemouth midfielder has also often spoken about his admiration for the Lilywhites.
Tottenham should sign Scott if they stay up
With their Premier League status in danger, it’s hard to make a transfer plan for Tottenham. However, it’s clear that they need a major rebuild, and one of the areas that needs work is the midfield. They have many carry-first midfielders and almost no pass-first ones.
While Scott is not entirely a pass-first midfielder like Adam Wharton, he is a highly technical and versatile midfielder. He could arguably easily replace Joao Palhinha, Conor Gallagher, Yves Bissouma, and Rodrigo Bentancur in Spurs’ starting XI. He has made 84 appearances for Bournemouth, recording six goals and five assists.

Moreover, Spurs need people who are Tottenham fans in and around their squad after this season. The likes of Thomas Frank and Justin Cochrane, who are known admirers of Arsenal, certainly didn’t help the club in any way.
Having players or staff members who are committed to the club will be a huge boost for the fanbase as well.
