Igor Tudor endured his darkest two hours as Tottenham’s interim boss as his side fell to a demoralising 3-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest at home.
In a game widely described as a relegation six-pointer, Vitor Pereira’s side produced a clinical display as goals from Igor Jesus, Morgan Gibbs-White and Taiwo Awoniyi gave them three priceless points.
Forest are now out of the relegation zone at West Ham United’s expense, who lost to Aston Villa earlier today.
Tottenham, meanwhile, are 17th but are only a point above the Hammers as the prospect of dropping down to the Championship continues to loom large.
Tudor was expected to face a media storm after the game as Tottenham fell desperately short in what was supposed to be the most important game of their season.
However, the Croatian has been exempt from his media duties owing to personal reasons.
Tudor facing family bereavement
After positive results against Liverpool and Atletico Madrid, Tottenham were expected to kick on and deliver in the Premier League this weekend.
And with key players returning from injuries in recent weeks, it looked like things were finally starting to look up for them.
However, their newfound momentum was halted by Forest as they secured an emphatic result.
And things have seemingly got worse for Tudor. According to Alasdair Gold, the Tottenham boss was informed of a close family bereavement immediately after the full-time whistle, due to which he was exempt from attending the post-match press conference.
Further details remain unclear at this stage. Football and everything else can take a back seat for now, so our thoughts and prayers are with the Tottenham boss in what appears to be a difficult time for him.
Bruno Salter to take Tottenham press conference
Tudor will not be speaking to the media, but the press conference still went ahead, with assistant manager Bruno Salter filling in for the Croatian.
When asked about Tudor’s absence, Salter didn’t give much away, although he did confirm that the 47-year-old is dealing with a personal matter.
“Personal matters, family matters and I am stepping in as it is not the right time for him to speak,” said Salter to Sky sports via BBC.
Tottenham fans have every right in the world to question Tudor’s future as they’ve picked up one point from five Premier League games under his leadership.
In fact, they are winless in the competition in 2026 and are in their worst run of form domestically in nearly 100 years, which is a sign that they are in a bit of a free fall.
However, football isn’t the most important thing in the world as he’s currently dealing with a personal matter. Wishing the boss and his family all the strength to deal with whatever it is they are going through.
