Igor Tudor’s job remains in massive doubt as Tottenham travel to Anfield to take on Liverpool in the Premier League.
They remain the only winless side in the Premier League in 2026 and are just a point above the relegation zone after losing each of their last five games in the competition.
Tudor has overseen four losses as the interim boss so far, conceding 14 goals in the process.
Earlier this week, several reputed sources across England confirmed that his job is already on the line, with alternatives being monitored.
Roberto de Zerbi has long been on Tottenham’s radar and is a free agent after leaving Marseille by mutual consent.
And now, the Italian has made a crucial decision on his future that could affect Spurs’ managerial search.
De Zerbi not interested in Tottenham job immediately
De Zerbi earned plaudits for his work with Marseille as they adopted a free-flowing brand of attacking football.
However, things quickly went downhill for him in 2026 as they suffered a series of underwhelming results in Ligue 1 and also got knocked out of the UEFA Champions League.
Shortly after Thomas Frank’s sacking at Tottenham, it was announced that De Zerbi and Marseille had parted company by mutual consent. The timing looked impeccable for Tottenham, but Tudor got the job on an interim basis due to his track record of saving teams from relegation.

And now, talkSPORT sources confirm that De Zerbi is not interested in the Tottenham job at this stage as he is unwilling to jump right back into the dugout before the start of the new season.
If Tottenham decide to sack Tudor, they will have to look elsewhere as De Zerbi isn’t an option if they want someone to take over the reigns immediately.
Liverpool game could be Tudor’s last straw
The talkSPORT report also states that Tudor has already been informed by the Tottenham hierarchy that they are actively looking for candidates to replace him.
After already sacking Ange Postecoglou and Frank, the North London outfit are close to giving another manager the boot, which is a clear sign that the hierarchy haven’t really earned their money in recent years.
That said, they need to get this one absolutely spot on as their top-flight status is on the line.

And if Nottingham Forest secure a win against Fulham, Tottenham could kick off at Anfield while in the relegation zone, which is genuinely unbelievable just to think of.
