Iliman Ndiaye was at the centre of a storm involving Tottenham, Everton and Manchester City on deadline day.
The Lilywhites had agreed a deal to sign him, with Richarlison travelling in the opposite direction in a separate deal.
However, the Brazilian international rejected the transfer and later, Manchester City swooped for Ndiaye, after which Tottenham scrambled for replacements before eventually signing Mykhailo Mudryk on loan from Chelsea.
And now, the Senegalese international has made a transfer admission that won’t be well received by Tottenham fans across the world.
Iliman Ndiaye on why he rejected Tottenham
“For me it was always going to be City,” said Ndiaye via MEN when asked about his transfer saga.
“I wanted Champions League and playing at one of the best teams in the world. I’m not saying Tottenham is not, but when Manchester City comes through, you don’t say no.
“It’s been a good week for me and topped off with a win today.”
The attacker agreed terms to move to Tottenham before Manchester City made a move for him, so this is hard to digest.
To make matters worse, he has appeared to suggest that choosing the Cityzens over Roberto De Zerbi’s side was a no-brainer, so that just goes to show how much Tottenham need to improve to become a force to be reckoned with again.
