‘Priority’ – Fabrizio Romano’s Tottenham transfer claim completely refuted by journalist

Tottenham Hotspur’s ongoing search for an attacker has started to heat up after reaching a complete standstill in recent weeks.

The Lilywhites have been linked with a host of players, but nothing concrete had emerged until yesterday evening when a report from France piqued everyone’s interest.

Loic Tanzi reported that Tottenham have made a move to sign Folarin Balogun, who showed his class at the 2026 FIFA World Cup with the USA.

However, earlier this morning, Fabrizio Romano claimed there was nothing advanced between Tottenham and Balogun, which was a sobering update, to say the least.

And now, Santi Aouna from Foot Mercato has had his say on the matter.

Tottenham make Folarin Balogun their priority target

Aouna confirmed on X that Tottenham have made the American striker their priority target, adding that the former Arsenal man has given his green light to join the club.

He wrote on X: “Folarin Balogun has given his green light to join Tottenham.

“As revealed on Foot Mercato, the Monaco striker is the Spurs’ priority. No official offer yet, but discussions are progressing between the various parties.”

Aouna’s report refutes Romano’s claims this morning as the Italian said there was nothing advanced between Tottenham and Balogun.

Our opinion: There is no smoke without fire, so it certainly looks like the young striker is a target for Roberto De Zerbi. The next few days will be interesting, to say the least.
