Aside from striving to retain their status as a Premier League club, Tottenham Hotspur also seemingly have their sights set on the summer transfer window already.

Tottenham are eyeing Andrea Cambiaso as one of the players to strengthen their squad next season.

Marco Senesi is on Spurs’ radar as well, with the Lilywhites remaining ambitious in the transfer market despite languishing in 17th place in the Premier League table so far.

Tottenham have shortlisted Robin Roefs as well to potentially replace Guglielmo Vicario, who could join Inter Milan this summer. The Sunderland goalkeeper has now opened up about his future.

Roefs was questioned about whether he is considering exiting the Stadium of Light. However, the Dutchman confirmed that as things stand, he is not paying attention to rumours about his future.

The Black Cats’ number one said via Sunderland Echo: “For me, it’s not really time to think about these things like moving or any rumours.”

With Vicario saying yes to Inter Milan as his next destination, the bad news for Tottenham is that Roefs loves Sunderland’s project and mentioned he hopes the club continue to soar next season.

“As long as I don’t know anything about it, I just keep on going. The way we are building here is just really, really amazing. I think being promoted and performing really well, I think we can only build on that. Let’s hope next season we can continue like this.”

James Trafford would be the dream Robin Roefs alternative for Spurs

Roefs, who Jamie Carragher described as “brilliant” (via Sunderland Echo) has arguably been the best goalkeeper in the Premier League this season.

However, Tottenham are fortunate in the sense that Antonin Kinsky has improved since Roberto De Zerbi’s arrival, as was evidenced during his latest exploits against Aston Villa.

Spurs fans have no need to be frustrated as James Trafford is Tottenham’s top target to replace Vicario and despite being Manchester City’s number two, he has been excellent for the most part.

First and foremost, Trafford’s shot-stopping has been terrific, as was proven against Arsenal when he made in the Carabao Cup final when he made three saves early doors to keep Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka’s efforts at bay.

The 23-year-old has looked like the real deal against top teams such as the Gunners, Liverpool and Newcastle United in cup competitions.

While in possession, Trafford provides a calming presence and is also adept at commanding the box as well as being dominant from set-piece situations.

If Tottenham end up signing the Englishman, missing out on Roefs would be far from a crisis.
