Tottenham secured arguably their most creditable win under Roberto De Zerbi as they beat Chelsea 2-0 at Stamford Bridge.
It was only the Lilywhites’ second-ever Premier League win at the home of the Blues, which goes to show just how bad their record has been at the venue.
An own goal from Mike Penders gave Tottenham the lead, but Mathys Tel stole the show late in the game with a fantastic solo effort.
And Troy Deeney believes that could be the Frenchman’s crowning moment as he has blown hot and cold at the club so far.
Troy Deeney hails Tottenham attacker Mathys Tel
“Tel had a real difficult start to his career at Spurs,” wrote Deeney in his column for the BBC.
“I thought for the first time against Chelsea we saw what Spurs saw in him: pace, power, hard work, and then obviously an unbelievable goal to finish it as well.”
Aside from his goal, Tel fared quite well at both ends of the pitch and was a constant thorn in the flesh of the Chelsea defenders.
De Zerbi has always believed in him, but so far, the young Frenchman has been unable to justify it with his end product.
Hopefully his goal against Chelsea will be the moment that turns the tide in his favour…
