At a glance:
- Tottenham want Svilar and Pellegrini from Roma
- Micky van de Ven wanted by Manchester United
- Big relegation prediction
In recent weeks, the narrative around Tottenham has shifted after successive Premier League wins.
The feel-good factor has returned, with Roberto De Zerbi earning rave reviews for his setup against Wolves and Aston Villa.
In terms of transfers, it’s looking a lot better now for Tottenham as they are in a much better position to avoid relegation.
And two new players have been added to their transfer shortlist.
Svilar and Pellegrini double deal?
Guglielmo Vicario is expected to leave Tottenham in the summer, with Inter Milan favourites to sign him.
De Zerbi will need a goalkeeper and a handful of players have already been linked.
And now, it appears as if the Lilywhites are plotting a double raid on Roma.
Tottenham are interested in signing Mile Svilar and Lorenzo Pellegrini, who are both enjoying fantastic campaigns in Serie A.
While Svilar would replace Vicario between the sticks, Pellegrini’s potential arrival could give De Zerbi another versatile option in attack or as a No. 10.
Van de Ven to Manchester United update
The Dutchman is likely to leave Tottenham this summer after three seasons in North London.
And now, reports from the English media have confirmed that Manchester United are willing to pay around £60m to sign Van de Ven.
The Red Devils are on the lookout for a central defender as Matthijs de Ligt has struggled with injuries, while Harry Maguire isn’t getting any younger.
Regardless of what happens in the future, Van de Ven will be remembered for his performances under Ange Postecoglou and could well play a big role in the club’s relegation fight between now and the end of the season.
Shearer says Tottenham will stay up
The relegation battle looks like it could go down to the wire.
Nottingham Forest have pulled clear of the drop zone after their fantastic performances in recent weeks, so it looks like it is between West Ham and Tottenham.
And with two wins in their last two games, De Zerbi’s side have momentum on their side.
Alan Shearer feels Tottenham will avoid relegation at West Ham’s expense, with the Hammers set to face Arsenal this weekend.
From everyone associated with Tottenham, here’s to hoping Shearer is bang on the money with his prediction, even if it means Arsenal get their hands on the Premier League trophy.
