At a glance:
- Tottenham interested in Samuel Martinez
- Colombian internally likened to Kaka
- Arsenal and Bayern also in the race
Tottenham’s transfers have been a mixed bag in recent years, to say the least.
After having one of the most exciting squads in world football under Mauricio Pochettino, their strategy has faltered since the turn of the decade.
Sebastian Kehl is the leading candidate to become Tottenham’s sporting director, with the German expected to work alongside Johan Lange.
And if reports from Germany are to be believed, they are keeping tabs on one of the most exciting youngsters in world football.
Tottenham express Samuel Martinez interest
The signings of Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall, Luka Vuskovic and Souza indicate that Tottenham are investing in youth.
That strategy appears set to continue under Roberto De Zerbi, with the Italian having signed a five-year deal at the club without a relegation clause.

TZ in Germany report that Tottenham have expressed their interest in signing Samuel Martinez.
The youngster plays for Nacional as well as Colombia u17s and has earned rave reviews for his performances.
The likes of Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund have also been mentioned as potential suitors for the attacking midfielder, who has been likened to Kaka for his style of play, flair and natural ability on the ball.
Tottenham need a No.10
The lack of an out-and-out No. 10 this season has been a big issue for Tottenham.
Dejan Kulusevski is yet to return from his long-term injury, while James Maddison has only been fit enough for the bench over the past two games.

Xavi Simons has shown flashes of brilliance in recent games, but the Dutchman is still getting to grips with English football.
Tottenham have also been linked with Ibrahim Maza, who has delivered a string of eye-catching displays in Germany with Bayer Leverkusen.
Whether it is Maza, Martinez, or someone else, don’t be surprised to see a No 10 being signed in the summer transfer window.
In any case, if Martinez joins, he is likely to spend some time with the age group teams and go out on loan before joining the first team.
Tottenham have got a lot of things wrong in recent seasons. But they have been spot on when it comes to unearthing young talents, so Martinez might just be the next trick up their sleeves.
