At a glance:
- Pape Sarr wanted by Fenerbahce
- Initial talks have already taken place
- Midfielder will leave if Tottenham are relegated
Pape Sarr’s Tottenham future continues to hang in the balance, much like a lot of the other big hitters at the club.
The Senegalese midfielder has struggled this season, but that’s largely due to Tottenham’s collective failure as opposed to his own frailties.
Sarr has featured as a substitute in each of Roberto De Zerbi’s first two games in charge of the club.
And if reports from Turkey are to be believed, he could well end up moving to Fenerbahce in the summer transfer window.
Fenerbahce hold talks with Sarr’s agent
Since making his Tottenham debut in early 2023, Sarr has been a key player for the club.
His work-rate and dynamism in the centre of the park came to the fore under Ange Postecoglou as he played a big part in their UEFA Europa League triumph.

However, with an abundance of options in the centre of the park this season, his form has dipped slightly.
Fotomac report that Fenerbahce are interested in signing the Senegalese international as they aim to shore up their ranks in midfield.
With Fred and Ismail Yuksek expected to leave permanently and Edson Alvarez unlikely to be signed permanently, the Turkish Super Lig side are on the lookout for another midfielder.
Initial talks have already been held with his agents, with the report confirming that Fenerbahce will make negotiations ‘official’ in the coming days.
Tottenham facing Sarr dilemma
Sarr is surely a useful player and has largely fared quite well at the club. However, Tottenham have too many midfielders with the same skillset, so they need to address this area of the pitch.

It goes without saying that the likes of Joao Palhinha and Yves Bissouma should leave before Sarr, while the same could also be said about Conor Gallagher despite the Englishman only joining the club in January.
The Senegalese midfielder is still young and could really develop under De Zerbi.
However, if a tempting offer arrives, Tottenham could be forced to sell as they could use the money to revitalise the squad.
Sarr has a bright future in the game, but whether or not he realises his potential at Tottenham remains to be seen.
