Tottenham are more than just in a spot of bother in the Premier League as they face a battle to avoid relegation.
With just five games left to go, they need to get wins on the board to stand a chance of securing safety, especially with teams around them starting to pick up form.
In the meantime, there has been a fresh update on Cristian Romero’s future, a potential return to the club for George Abbott, and a bold relegation claim from former boss Nuno Espirito Santo.
Tottenham want £56m for Romero
Cristian Romero has been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid, while a host of other clubs also want him. He is currently out with an injury and may have already played his last game for Tottenham.
We reported earlier today on Read Tottenham that the club wants £56m for Romero, which is around the figure his father mentioned when he spoke about a release clause in his contract.

Cuti’s departure is effectively set in stone; it’s just a matter of where he ends up by the looks of it.
George Abbott suffers injury blow
Yesterday, reports in Germany confirmed that Luka Vuskovic has suffered an injury setback as he continues to recover from a knee problem.
And now, it appears as if George Abbott is set to spend a spell on the sidelines with a quad problem.
He is expected to return to Tottenham, with his loan at Mansfield Town set to be cut short.
Our wretched injury crisis won’t even spare our loanees, eh?
Nuno speaks about relegation
Former Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo’s job at West Ham is an intriguing subplot of the relegation battle.

West Ham are just two points above Spurs in the table and it looks like one of the two teams will drop down to the Championship.
After the Hammers’ 0-0 draw at Selhurst Park, Nuno claimed the relegation battle will be decided on the last day of the season as it’s incredibly close at the bottom.
The Portuguese coach clearly has a point, but if Tottenham don’t start putting points on the board, West Ham won’t have to wait until mid-May to confirm their Premier League status.
