Tottenham have appointed Roberto De Zerbi as their new head coach. The Italian has signed a five-year deal following Thomas Frank and Igor Tudor’s departure.
De Zerbi will become one of the Premier League’s highest-paid managers. He has already arrived at Tottenham and is expected to start taking charge of the training on Friday, April 3. Most of the players could return from the international duty by then.
There hasn’t been much information about De Zerbi’s potential coaching staff at Spurs. However, there has been a lot of chatter that Sandro could return to the club in some capacity.
Sandro hints at joining De Zerbi’s staff at Tottenham
Sandro is a cult figure at Tottenham, having made over 100 appearances for them. He is also open in his affection for the club on social media and often attends their games.
The Brazilian has also played under De Zerbi at Benevento, as the Italian made him the team captain. Sandro labeled De Zerbi the best coach he has played under in 2023. He has now hinted at potentially joining his staff at Tottenham.

Sandro has shared multiple stories on his Instagram account since the Italian’s appointment about travelling to London. He also shared a post on Instagram about him, writing:
“Very happy to see Roberto De Zerbi at Tottenham. A top coach, a great person, and someone who truly loves the game. I’m sure he will bring his identity, his passion, and something special to this club. Wishing you all the best on this new journey. COYS. We will do this together. Spurs Family”
Many Spurs fans and fan pages have commented on the post about his potentially joining De Zerbi’s staff. He has liked such comments, which could hint at his involvement.
Sandro’s potential inclusion will be a welcome change for Tottenham
Spurs have had an awful season, not just on the pitch but off it as well. A big part of it has come from arguably losing their identity in playing style and their values. They also appeared to have their staff filled with Arsenal influence this season.

They hired Vinai Venkatesham, a former Arsenal CEO, last year. They then appointed Thomas Frank, who has been an open admirer of the Gunners and Mikel Arteta. Justin Cochrane, who was part of Frank’s coaching staff, is also known to be an Arsenal supporter.
Hence, having someone like Sandro, who knows and loves Tottenham, will be a huge boost for the club and the fans.
Aside from instilling the attractive playing style, he could also bridge the gap between the supporters and the team that has developed this season.
