Levy refuses to sanction Townsend loan move

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy will refuse to sanction a loan move for Andros Townsend, according to the Mirror.

Townsend, who now trains with the Under-21 team after a confrontation with fitness coach Nathan Gardiner, is the subject of interest from a number of Premier League clubs with the England winger free to leave Spurs in the January transfer window.

However, Daniel Levy is insistent on Townsend leaving only if a club is willing to buy him permanently for £14 million but West Ham and Watford, the main two clubs interested in Townsend, are only keen to loan the winger until the end of the season.

Townsend, who has been keeping his fitness levels up by playing for the Under-21 team, is keen to ensure that he is playing regular football ahead of Euro 2016, which he hopes to be a part of, despite falling behind other players in the England pecking order.

If Townsend did move permantley, it would free up funds for Mauricio Pochettino to add another striker to his squad, with Harry Kane being his only fit senior striker currently with Clinton N’Jie sidelined after surgery.

Do you think it is the right decision to allow Townsend to move on?
