Tottenham transfer news as medical scheduled after £7m deal agreed

Roberto De Zerbi watches on from the touchline for Tottenham Hotspur

A handful of youngsters and first-team players have left Tottenham Hotspur this summer as Roberto De Zerbi continues to fine-tune his squad.

Yesterday, we relayed claims that Mikey Moore and Mason Melia will leave on loan, with the latter’s move now confirmed as he prepares to turn out for Lincoln City for the forthcoming season.

The likes of Luka Vuskovic, Alfie Devine, Will Lankshear and Alejo Veliz have also departed the club in search of regular game time.

And now, Ashley Phillips is on his way out for the same reason after agreeing a deal with Middlesbrough, where he will reunite with Lankshear.

Ashley Phillips to leave Tottenham for Middlesbrough

We reported on Read Tottenham yesterday that Boro were in advanced talks to sign Phillips, who Spurs signed for £2m in 2023.

The Northern Echo have now confirmed that the defender will move to the Championship outfit for 7m, with Tottenham retaining a sell-on clause and also entitled to performance-based add-ons.

Phillips’ sale represents a sizable profit for Tottenham. As for the player himself, he knows the Championship quite well due to his previous stint with Stoke City and will look to spearhead Boro’s push for promotion after they narrowly missed out last season.

It’s good to see him reunite with Lankshear too as having a familiar face around could help ease the nerves at a new club.
