Everton Eye Djed Spence Transfer Amid Tottenham Star’s World Cup Rise

Everton are considering a move for Tottenham full-back Djed Spence, with David Moyes keen to bolster his right-back options as Spence’s stock rises on the back of an impressive World Cup with England.

According to Sky Sports, Everton have discussed a possible approach for Spence, whose versatility and energy off the bench have caught the eye through England’s run to Wednesday’s semi-final against Argentina. There are no talks between the clubs at this stage, but Moyes is prioritising a new right-back following Seamus Coleman’s departure, and Spence has now featured in all six of England’s games at the tournament.

David Moyes’ Right-Back Search Also Includes Arsenal’s Ben White

Sky Sports reports that Spence is one of three names on Everton’s right-back shortlist, alongside Arsenal’s Ben White and Strasbourg’s Guela Doue. Tottenham are under no pressure to sell, with Spence contracted at the club until 2029, and Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke has reported that Spurs would want at least £40m to consider a sale, up from the £25m Everton were previously said to be weighing up before the World Cup boosted his profile.

Spence made 44 appearances for Tottenham last season and struggled at times to hold down a regular starting spot under Roberto De Zerbi, but his tournament form, including a key defensive cameo alongside Dan Burn as England edged past Mexico, has strengthened his position. For now, his focus remains on England’s World Cup semi-final, with any transfer talk unlikely to move quickly before Tottenham reconvene for pre-season and further additions like today’s confirmed departure of Luka Vuskovic continue to reshape the defensive picture.
