Inter Milan remain in active talks to sign Tottenham right-back Djed Spence, but the Italian side’s valuation of the England international is falling well short of what Spurs are demanding.
According to a fresh update from Fabrizio Romano, Inter see Spence as their top target at right wing-back and the player himself would be open to the move, though Tottenham’s asking price is higher than Inter’s expectations. Sky Sports has since reported that Sky Italia sources describe Spurs as “leaking” a higher valuation than the roughly €30m (£25.6m) ceiling Inter are working to, with the Serie A club needing a replacement for Denzel Dumfries following his move to Real Madrid.
Roberto De Zerbi Faces A Decision On Spence’s Tottenham Future
Spence, 25, signed a new long-term contract at Tottenham in August 2025 but has not featured prominently in De Zerbi’s plans for next season, a point Read Tottenham flagged when Everton’s interest in the full-back first emerged this week. Everton remain in the picture alongside Inter, with David Moyes keen to bring in cover at right-back as he reshapes his defence.
A return to Italy would not be unfamiliar territory for Spence, who spent the second half of the 2023/24 season on loan at Genoa. He has continued to impress on the biggest stage regardless of the transfer speculation, starting for England throughout their run to Wednesday’s World Cup semi-final against Argentina, a match that also features Tottenham’s Cristian Romero and Marcos Senesi, as covered in Read Tottenham’s recent transfer briefing. Any deal is likely to hinge on Spurs holding firm on their fee before a deal can move forward.
