- Richarlison Tottenham’s top scorer this season
Tottenham played their best football of the season as they went into the interval with a 2-0 lead against Aston Villa at Villa Park.
Roberto De Zerbi’s side raced off the blocks and produced a magnificent first-half showing to claw their way out of the relegation zone.
Tottenham have been ravaged by injuries this season, reducing them to just three fit attacking options against Villa.
However, Richarlison stepped up with a goal, earning high praise from Tim Sherwood.
Sherwood lauds Richarlison
Conor Gallagher broke the deadlock with a fantastic finish from outside the box to score his first goal for the club.
Moments later, Richarlison doubled Tottenham’s lead with a close-range header after a brilliant cross from Mathys Tel.
And Sherwood feels the Brazilian is an absolute warrior who the Tottenham boss has underused since his arrival.
He said, live on the Premier League’s official broadcast: “Just get the ball to him inside the box, that’s what he wants.
He’ll run his socks off, attack the ball with his life and he never stands still. Richarlison has probably told them, ‘If you get the ball in the wide areas and have half a yard, just whip it in!'”
“It’s a great delivery and poor defending from Villa again. He’s a nuisance, an absolute nuisance. The timing of his run and jump, he’s so brave. This kid is a warrior.
“He’s scored double figures now for Tottenham, a team that still might get relegated.

“Ten goals for a struggling team to keep them in the division? Brilliant. And why on earth has he not had the game time so far this season? I can’t understand it.”
After injuries to Dominic Solanke and Xavi Simons, Tottenham don’t have too many attacking options.
As far as the senior team is concerned, only Richarlison, Tel and Randal Kolo Muani are fit currently and that trio will remain untouched for the rest of the season.
As things stand, Tottenham are 2-0 up against Aston Villa and are out of the relegation zone. However, only half the job is done and they need a strong second-half showing to all the points back home to North London.
