- Christoph Freund provides Joao Palhinha update
- Arsenal ahead of Tottenham for Maxi Araujo
- Atletico Madrid want Andy Robertson
Xavi Simons has grabbed all the headlines for Tottenham today.
We’ve covered everything related to his injury on Read Tottenham, so we won’t bore you with more details on the Dutchman’s ACL problem.
Elsewhere, there has been a fresh twist in the race for Andy Robertson, while Maxi Araujo could be headed to Arsenal.
Joao Palhinha’s future is also not yet set in stone, with his loan spell set to conclude in the summer.
Christoph Freund on Joao Palhinha
There were reports that Tottenham want to sign Palhinha permanently, but it remains to be seen what happens.
And now, Bayern Munich executive Christoph Freund has had his say on the matter.
“The situation at Tottenham is difficult,” said Fruend via Bavarian Football Works.
“Joao is a fighter. He had a great start at Tottenham. The focus is entirely on avoiding relegation; Tottenham know what they have in him.
“But the situation there is very tense at the moment, so it’s difficult to say anything about the future right now.”
Palhinha scored a crucial goal against Wolves and will look to focus on the next four games before deciding his future.
Maxi Araujo to Arsenal?
Earlier this month, we covered on Read Tottenham that Maxi Araujo has keen admirers at Hotspur Way.
In fact, Tottenham even scouted him when he was in action against Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League for Sporting CP.
And now, Arsenal have jumped ahead of Tottenham in race for Araujo, with Sporting demanding around £52m.
After the Eberechi Eze transfer saga, is there about to be another drawn-out battle in the North London divide?
Tottenham dealt Andy Robertson blow
Tottenham have a verbal agreement to sign Andy Robertson from Liverpool.
The left-back is set to become a free agent in the summer as his contract is set to expire. Tottenham have moved early, but the deal hinges on whether or not they avoid relegation.
And now, Atletico Madrid are interested in signing Robertson. They made a move for him last summer but couldn’t get the deal over the line as he decided to remain at Liverpool.
Diego Simeone’s side can also offer him UEFA Champions League football, so it remains to be seen how the situation develops.
