At a glance:
- Manchester United want Micky van de Ven
- Dutchman has one foot out of the door
- Van de Ven tied down at Tottenham until 2029
A mass exodus is set to ensue at Tottenham this summer, whether or not they remain in the Premier League.
Despite winning the UEFA Europa League under Ange Postecoglou last year, their league form over the past two seasons simply hasn’t been good enough.
Roberto De Zerbi’s arrival is a big boost, but most of their big hitters are expected to move on to greener pastures in the upcoming transfer window.
Micky van de Ven has been unwilling to commit his future to Tottenham as they remain embroiled in a relegation battle.
And now, reliable reports have confirmed that Manchester United are interested in signing the Dutch international.
Manchester United discussing Van de Ven
Since joining the club in 2024, the flying Dutchman has featured more often than not when fully fit and has contributed at both ends of the pitch.
Van de Ven has even captained the club in Cristian Romero’s absence, which is a sign that he is a part of Tottenham’s leadership group.

However, the 2025-26 campaign has proved to be difficult for the defender, as is the case with the rest of the Tottenham squad.
And now, The Athletic confirm that Manchester United are considering a move for Van de Ven, although he is tied down at Spurs until the summer of 2029.
The Red Devils are on the lookout for a reliable central defender, with Lisandro Martinez, Matthijs de Ligt and Ayden Heaven all struggling with injuries recently.
Yesterday, we reported on Read Tottenham that Van de Ven is tying up his off-field affairs in London, which is a clear sign that he already has one foot out of the door.
The report also confirms that other clubs across Europe are keeping tabs on him, so at this point, his departure only seems like a matter of time.
Van de Ven’s Tottenham exit inevitable
The Dutchman has endured a tough season and there have been questions raised about his character.

However, Van de Ven enjoyed two really good seasons under Ange Postecoglou, so there are no doubts over his quality.
Spurs will be in a good position even if they get relegated, as he has a contract at the club until 2029.
His value will be protected, but if they are playing Championship football next season, there is absolutely no chance of retaining a player of Van de Ven’s ability.
Tottenham have an agreement in place to sign Marcos Senesi, although the deal hinges on whether they avoid relegation.
The Argentine would be a like-for-like replacement for Van de Ven, so it would make sense for all parties involved to part ways if a suitable offer arrives.
