Roberto De Zerbi’s arrival at Tottenham has brought a renewed sense of hope among fans and pundits alike that they can avoid Premier League relegation this season.
With just seven games to go, the North London outfit are just a point above the drop zone and are winless in the Premier League in 2026.
Tottenham have their work cut out for them in the upcoming weeks, especially with West Ham United and Nottingham Forest picking up form in recent weeks.
Due to their FA Cup elimination against Aston Villa earlier this season, Spurs don’t play this weekend.
However, Friday was their first training session under the Italian, who was seen putting his players through their paces.
Tottenham players hugely impressed by De Zerbi
Tottenham’s next Premier League clash is on 12th April when they travel to the Stadium of Light to take on Sunderland.
The international break actually worked out quite well for the club as they had enough time to bring De Zerbi into the club after mutually parting ways with Igor Tudor.
And now, Alasdair Gold reports that Tottenham players went home with rave reviews of the Italian’s training methods, with one player – who remains unnamed – telling his friends that their first glimpse of their new boss was ‘outstanding’.
De Zerbi’s coaching staff is yet to be confirmed, although earlier this weekend, it was confirmed that Alessandro Nesta will not join Tottenham.
Tottenham cult hero Sandro has been linked with a return to the club in some capacity and it remains to be seen if he joins forces with his former boss at Benevento.
Things are looking up for Tottenham
There’s still a lot of work to do on the pitch to avoid relegation, as they need points on the board immediately.
However, things seem to be falling in place for Tottenham, with key players like Mohammed Kudus, Lucas Bergvall and Destiny Udogie returning to training in recent weeks, among others.

Less than a month ago, Tottenham had just 13 fit senior players and were undergoing a torrid spell under Tudor, although the Croatian can’t take too much blame as he joined the club in dire circumstances.
And now, one of the best coaches in world football is at the club and key players are slowly returning to action, which could be worth its weight in gold in the relegation battle.
