Roberto De Zerbi’s arrival at Tottenham has been the talk of the town after he put pen to paper on a five-year deal to replace Igor Tudor.
The Italian is yet to confirm his coaching staff at the club and still has a bit of time to get the right people in, with the North London outfit only playing next on 12th April due to their early FA Cup exit.
Tottenham cult hero Sando fuelled speculation that he could join De Zerbi’s coaching staff by ‘liking’ comments linking him with the role.
And now, the Brazilian has had his say on the matter, in a podcast with Last Word on Spurs.
Sandro coy on Tottenham return
Sandro referred to De Zerbi as the best coach he’s played under after they worked together at Benevento.
Since then, they have gone their separate ways, with the Italian going on to manage Sassuolo, Shakhtar Donetsk, Brighton and Marseille before joining Tottenham.
Sandro has made no secret of his desire to return to N17. However, his recent comments suggest that it could be happening sooner rather than later.
When asked if he would join De Zerbi’s coaching staff, the Brazilian midfielder said he doesn’t know ‘yet,’ which is a sign that talks are being held behind the scenes.

“I think you guys will find out in the future,” said Sandro.
“I love you guys, I loved you from the beginning. I am Tottenham.”
Sandro-De Zerbi reunion has its perks
In the same podcast, Sandro said he did his coaching badges under De Zerbi as he’s a big fan of the Italian.
“He [RDZ] is my inspiration. I wanted to be a coach because of him,” quipped the Brazilian.

Granted, he isn’t an experienced coach by any stretch of the imagination. However, Tottenham are in desperate need of someone who knows and loves the club to breathe new life into everyone involved, which is where Sandro could come in.
De Zerbi’s coaching methods and ideologies need no introduction, and he is likely to add a few members to his staff in the upcoming days.
And a role for Sandro as an assistant coach doesn’t seem like the most outrageous suggestion, with the Brazilian showing his love for the club time and again over the years.
Make it happen, Tottenham!
