Igor Tudor among three ex-Tottenham managers with shortest-ever Premier League stints

Tottenham have struggled in the Premier League in the last two seasons. While they were comfortably clear of the relegation zone last season, they are perilously close this time around.

With no domestic wins in 2026, the north London side are just a point above 18th-placed West Ham United. They lost 3-0 in their last game against Nottingham Forest, who jumped two points above them in the Premier League standings.

After that defeat, Tottenham have now mutually parted ways with Igor Tudor and are looking for a third manager this season, interim or permanent. Amidst this, Tudor joined an unwanted list in the Premier League.

Tudor carves out unwanted piece of Tottenham history

Tottenham have changed numerous managers in recent years. Since Mauricio Pochettino, only one manager has lasted two seasons at the club – Ange Postecoglou.

Hence, it’s no surprise that Spurs feature twice in the Top 5 on the list of shortest managerial stints in the Premier League. Christian Stellini and Tudor are part of the list, with Postecoglou also on it after his brief spell with Nottingham Forest earlier this season.

Stellini has had the shortest ever reign at a Premier League club, lasting just 29 days. Following Antonio Conte’s sacking in the 2022-23 season, his assistant Stellini was appointed as the interim manager. He lost two, won one, and drew one of his four games in charge before being replaced by Ryan Mason.

Sam Allardyce at Leeds United lasted 30 days and is second on the list. Ange’s stint at Nottingham Forest this season puts him third on the list with 39 days. He managed zero wins in the eight games he managed Forest across competitions.

Led Reed lasted 40 days at Charlton Athletic in 2006. Igor Tudor follows him at the fifth spot on the list, having lasted 43 days at Tottenham this season. He also leaves the club without managing a single win in the Premier League.

Tottenham set to have 3 managers in a season for the second time in 4 years

Having to appoint three managers in a season indicates disastrous decision-making from a club hierarchy. Tottenham have now done it twice in four years.

They started the 2022-23 season with Antonio Conte after he had helped them finish fourth in the Premier League the previous season. However, he was sacked after poor results and falling out with the owners.

Christian Stellini took his place but lasted just four games before Ryan Mason finished the season as the second interim manager.

This season, Tottenham appointed Thomas Frank in the summer after sacking Postecoglou. The Dane was then replaced by Tudor in February, who has also departed.

The North London side are truly depicting how not to run a football club.
