Keisuke Goto: Tottenham leading chase to sign striker with ‘perfect’ rating from scouts

Tottenham Hotspur continue to undergo an ocean of change as they find themselves languishing in 16th in the Premier League table.

Igor Tudor has been appointed as interim boss after Thomas Frank’s sacking, with Mauricio Pochettino and Roberto de Zerbi in the running to take the Tottenham job permanently in the summer.

Naturally, until a permanent manager is in place, squad planning will take a backseat as they work towards appointing the right manager.

However, Japanese striker Keisuke Goto has quickly moved to the top of their summer transfer shortlist as their scouts work diligently behind the scenes to sign the right players for the present and the future.

Chase for Keisuke Goto hotting up

Goto is on loan at Belgian club Sint-Truidense (STVV) from RSC Anderlecht, who secured his rights permanently in the summer of 2025 for a fee believed to be in the region of £1m.

And the young striker has made quite the impression this season, notching up 12 goals and four assists across 25 games in all competitions.

According to a report from Sports Boom, Tottenham are leading the race to sign the 20-year-old, who received a ‘perfect’ rating from their scouts for his physical attributes.

The 6ft2in striker is clearly a towering presence, but his versatility and high work rate make him an intriguing prospect for clubs across Europe.

Tottenham will have to fend off several other suitors to secure his signature, though. The report also mentions interest from a host of other clubs, including Newcastle United, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Chelsea, Brighton & Hove Albion, VfB Stuttgart and Eintracht Frankfurt.

Andelecht are looking to balance their books to comply with FFP regulations and are looking for a transfer fee of around £17.5m.

It is also worth noting that they haven’t received official offers for Goto yet, although his agents are believed to have held ‘preliminary talks’ with a few interested parties in London.

Tottenham looking to raid the Asian market again

A certain Son Heung-min is a name Tottenham fans will remember for decades, with the South Korean widely regarded as one of the greatest players in the club’s history for his exploits in North London.

Spurs have also signed Yang Min-hyeok, who is an exciting winger currently on loan at Coventry City in the Championship as he continues to get to grips with English football.

Goto is by no means a finished product, but for the fee mentioned, he could be a risk-free purchase for the club.

Tottenham fans won’t want to talk about the prospect of relegation and it would be unfathomable to see a club of such stature dropping down to the Championship.

However, it goes without saying that they certainly are not going to be competing for major honours immediately, so it is important for the club to make shrewd signings in the transfer market to build a squad for the present and the future.

The club’s pursuit of Goto proves they are scouring the market for rough diamonds, and if he carries on in the same trajectory, they could well intensify their pursuit in the summer.
