Soldado officially leaves Spurs

Robert Soldado has completed a move from Tottenham to La Liga side Villarreal worth around £7 million according to BBC Sport.

The 30 year old leaves Spurs for £19 million less than they bought him for two years ago.

“This is a very important step in my career. When their offer arrived I didn’t hesitate as it’s a great opportunity to return to Spain and join a big club.”

The Spanish striker scored only seven goals during 52 premier league appearances despite scoring the same amount of goals in 12 caps for Spain.

“I’ve been away for two years in which I haven’t been able to give my best, but I’m convinced that I can score lots of goals for Villarreal,”

“I’ve spent two very difficult years in England where I lost my confidence. Villarreal’s interest has given me the enthusiasm to do great things.

He has signed a three year contract with Villarreal after Spurs paid a club record of £26 million for him from Valencia.

“I want to return to play at a good level and score lots of goals. I want to go back to being the player I used to be.”

Soldado began his career at Real Madrid, scoring 63 goals in 120 league appearances for their B side followed by 81 goals in 141 games for Valencia.

Villarreal finished sixth in La Liga last season and therefore will compete in the Europa League this season along with Tottenham.
