Tottenham told to pay £85m for attacker before transfer deadline

Tottenham remain in the market for one more signing before the transfer window slams shut.

And it is fairly obvious that it is another attacker Roberto De Zerbi is after, having recently completed deals for Omar Marmoush and Savio.

Liverpool attacker Cody Gakpo has been heavily linked with a move to N17 this summer and has also agreed personal terms with the club.

And now, Ben Jacobs confirms that the Lilywhites will need to pay in the region of £85m – the fee they paid for Savio – to complete a deal for the Dutchman.

He wrote on X: “Cody Gakpo’s future one of the biggest stories of the next days. Valued by #LFC at a similar fee to Savio if a sale is sanctioned.

“Spurs have the longest-standing interest, but #MCFC have strongly entered the race in the last few days, making the situation far more open.

“Both City and Spurs also considering Iliman Ndiaye, who has already turned down Al-Hilal.

“Understand other Champions League clubs are also alert to both opportunities and have made some calls this weekend.”

Gakpo has started the new season strongly and is also wanted by Manchester City, so it remains to be seen how this one pans out.
