Tottenham handed massive boost in race for Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo

Tottenham are set to announce the signings of Savinho and Omar Marmoush imminently after drawn-out negotiations with Manchester City.

Roberto De Zerbi has had to wait a while to reinforce his attack, but he has managed to get his hands on two primary transfer targets.

The Lilywhites, however, aren’t done yet. Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo has been linked with a move to Tottenham and has already agreed personal terms with the club.

However, in recent days, Manchester City’s interest has thrown a spanner in the works of the transfer.

And now, Alex Crook of talkSPORT has an update on the future of the Dutch international.

Manchester City unlikely to sign Tottenham target Cody Gakpo

Manchester City are believed to be unlikely to make a move for Gakpo this summer, which is a huge boost for Tottenham.

Crook wrote on X: “EXC: THFC still pushing to sign Cody Gakpo. Understand a move to MCFC unlikely at this stage.

“LFC remain in talks with PSG for Bradley Barcola. French sources suggesting that one is more likely than unlikely between now and the transfer deadline.”

Tottenham have had an unbelievable summer so far and Gakpo’s arrival would be the icing on the cake. Of course, the Cityzens could make a late push and Liverpool, for their part, could decide not to sell if they don’t get their attacking signings.

But at this point, it appears as if his move to Tottenham is still on.
